JEAN - SEBASTIEN COLES

Jean-Sebastien Coles’ work engages with the concept of 'queer identity' and it's association to gender and sexuality. His practice is versatile, with a focus on acrylic, ink, graphite and digital mixed media. His most recent 'Penginas' series is centered on dismantling the idea of conventional beauty through the creation of hyper sexualized fantastical forms.

Coles originates from the Caribbean country of Haiti and grew up in Miami, Florida. He holds a Bachelors of Architecture from Syracuse University and currently resides in New York City.
